Twitter Reactions: SRH humiliate RCB in one-sided affair to record fifth successive triumph
It was a day to forget for RCB as they got bundled out for just 68 while batting first.
Fifth win on the trot for Sunrisers Hyderabad as they enter the top four in the team standings. In what can be called an absolutely one-sided affair, the Orange Army thrashed Royal Challengers Bangalore by nine wickets. It was a day to forget for RCB as they got bundled out for just 68 while batting first. The bowlers couldn’t do much either as SRH crossed the line with 12 overs to spare.
Earlier in the match, SRH won the toss and opted to bowl at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Marco Jansen justified the decision with a stellar opening spell, which in a way decided the fate of the game. The left-arm pacer dismissed Faf du Plessis, Anuj Rawat, and Virat Kohli in the second over and RCB couldn’t really recover from that damage.
RCB recorded the lowest score in IPL 2022:
While Glenn Maxwell and Suyash Prabhudessai tried showing some resilience, they were dismissed for 12 and 15 respectively. Besides the duo, none of the RCB batters could enter double figures as the side recorded the lowest team total in IPL 2022 and sixth-lowest overall, 68. Besides Jansen, T Natarajan also took a three-wicket haul while Jagadeesha Suchith dismissed a couple of batters.
SRH’s chase couldn’t have been smoother as openers Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma didn’t put a foot wrong. In order to bolster the net run rate, SRH looked for quick runs and Abhishek was the aggressor in the opening partnership. He scored 47 off just 28 deliveries as the Orange Army crossed the line in just eight overs, clinching the contest by nine wickets.
As mentioned above, this was Hyderabad’s fifth win on the trot and they now go at the second place in the team standings. What a turnaround it has been from Kane Williamson’s team after suffering thumping defeats in their first couple of games.
As far as RCB are concerned, they slipped down to the fourth place. Nonetheless, Faf du Plessis’ men are still in a commanding position with five victories in eight outings. However, they must assess their poor show against SRH to make a strong comeback.
