The first day of the final Test match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka witnessed a record partnership between Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das as the duo rescued their struggling team to end the day on a high note. Winning the toss and opting to bat first, the hosts’ strategies backfired as they lost five quick wickets, scoring bare minimum runs.
Das and Rahim consolidated from there, adding a massive 272 runs for the sixth wicket. While Sri Lanka was overjoyed with the start that they had received, the Bangladeshi duo left them disappointed at the end of the first day. The duo continued their heroics on the second day from the preceding day by guiding Bangladesh to a total of 300 runs. The side faced a collapse after Litton Das (141 off 246) lost his wicket to Kasun Rajitha.
Asitha Fernando and Rajitha shared four wickets between themselves in the first session as Bangladesh faced a downfall, but Mushfiqur Rahim (175* off 355) stood strong from the start of the day’s play and continued to score runs. While Sri Lanka needed just one wicket to put a brake on Bangladesh’s run, Ebadot Hossain fell prey to a terrible runout as the hosts ended their innings scoring 365 runs.
Sri Lanka end day 2 on a high note
The visitors started their innings on a high note with openers Oshada Fernando and Dimuth Karunaratne hitting the bowlers for multiple boundaries, thereby finding the gaps at regular intervals. Sri Lanka owned the second session as they dished out Bangladesh’s batting unit, and then followed it by scoring 84 runs at Tea, without losing a wicket. While Fernando had brought up his half-century by scoring 52 runs, Karunaratne had compiled 31 runs.
The hosts got their first breakthrough early in the third session when Hossain scalped Fernando (57 off 91) in the 26th over and a 95-run stand between the openers came to an end. The game slowed down terribly as the batters could not find the gaps to hit a boundary, and the hosts restricted the batters from scoring many runs.
Shakib Al Hasan provided his team with the second wicket by scalping Kusal Mendis for a low score. Nightwatchman Rajitha joined Karunaratne, but couldn’t score a run in the 11 balls that he faced before ending the day. As Karunaratne (70* off 127) remained unbeaten in the innings, the visitors concluded the second day scoring 143 runs at the loss of two wickets.

One of the greatest knocks played under pressure by a @BCBtigers batsman in their history of Test cricket. @mushfiqur15 proved his authority as the best batter from 🇧🇩 and hope so, he would deliver more. Expecting a fight back from @OfficialSLC. #BANvSL pic.twitter.com/KO4lDG0Gsc

Rajitha removing the helmet and calling extra man to give it away, then asking stump marks again from the umpire. Doing all the things to make sure it's the last over of the day. And he succeeded. 😅#BANvSL pic.twitter.com/5huBne0yZm

✅Took his maiden 5fer today
✅Tactically wasted time as the Nightwatchman today
✅Most wickets in the series so far (9 wickets in 52.3 overs at an economy of 2.36) #BANvSLCan Kasun Rajitha be Sri Lanka's new Finance Minister?😎 pic.twitter.com/pSMoBOJM6Z

Things these players do to delay as much as they can at the end of the day to save themselves from losing a wicket are unreal and sometimes they make your day like today😂 #BANvSL
