The stage was all set at the MCA Stadium, Pune, for the clash of the table toppers. The Chennai Super Kings hosted the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the match number 46 of the IPL 2018. Coming in to the game, the Sunrisers were the relaxed outfit. Their win in their previous fixture had made them the first team to qualify for the playoffs this year. On the other hand, the Chennai Super Kings looked on shaky grounds after having suffered from poor form in their previous two outings.

A win in this particular game will get them in the same league as the Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, at the half way stage of the game, the hosts would know that they have possible let the game slip away a little after dominating the proceedings in the first 10 overs of the game. The SRH total is not a big one but considering the fact that the Orange Army fancies defending low totals, the Chennai Super Kings will be under the pump in the second half of the game.

Talking about the game, the hosts won the toss and opted to bowl first. The comeback man, Deepak Chahar, bowled with sublime form and dismissed Alex Hales on 4. Chahar finished with figures of 1/16 in his four overs. He was very well supported by the other bowlers as the Super Kings kept a strong hold on the proceedings.

The Sunrisers could only score 29 runs in the powerplay. As the game progressed, the visitors found some touch with Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson adding 123 runs for the second wicket. Dhawan perished after scoring 79 off 49 balls with 10 fours and 3 sixes. Williamson scored 51 off 36 balls during his stay at the crease.

The two set batsmen were dismissed on consecutive deliveries that put SRH on the backfoot yet again. Towards the end, Deepak Hooda scored an unbeaten 21 off 11 balls to finish the Sunrisers Hyderabad innings on 179/4 in 20 overs. With Sunrisers’s bowling being in top form, the Chennai Super Kings will find it tough to chase the total.
