South Africa decimated England by an emphatic margin of 90 runs in the third and final T20I at The Rose Bowl, Southampton on Sunday, July 31. By the virtue of this win, the Proteas sealed the series 2-1. The Three Lions, on the other hand, have now failed to win four limited-overs series in a row and this happens to be their second successive bilateral T20I series loss ever since Jos Buttler took over the captaincy reins from Eoin Morgan.

The English batters miserably failed while chasing a stiff target as South African left-arm spinner Tabraiz Shamsi proved why he is still one of the best bowlers in the shortest format. Shamsi spun the web around the opposition batters and the famed England batting lineup had no answers while tackling his spin as they were bundled out just after scoring more than 100 runs.

In reply, Buttler and Jason Roy made a cautious start, but once the duo was dismissed in a span of two overs, and the pressure got the batters of the rest of the batters in this series decider as they could not offer any resistance. Only Jonny Bairstow showed some fightback, scoring 27 runs off 30 balls in what was otherwise a sorry-looking scorecard for the Three Lions.
It was Shamsi’s fifer that proved to be the difference maker as he got rid of the likes of Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, David Willey, Chris Jordan and Adil Rashid to finish with figures of 5/24 from his four overs at an economy rate of exactly six.
