India moved to the top of the ICC Test rankings. A comprehensive 3-0 series win over New Zealand had taken India to the top of the ranking table. India had secured the number one spot after they won the second Test at Kolkata. However, they had to wait for the series to end for the rankings to be officially updated.
When India won the Indore Test, they moved ahead of Pakistan in the rankings. ICC handed over the Test mace to Virat Kohli after the achievement. The players were delighted and so was the skipper. Kohli hailed the team’s overall performance. He also suggested the plans of staying on top and continue the domination.
A jubilant Kohli had quoted, “To be recognised as the best in the traditional form of the game is as good as it gets for any team and stuff that dreams are made of.”
Team India players were not far in showing their excitement on the social media. The players took to micro-blogging site Twitter to express their happiness. Kohli started off by showing his gratitude to his bunch of ‘champions’. He tweeted, “Memorable moment with my brothers. Great Win & getting the ICC Mace for being no.1. So so so grateful. Proud of these champions #TeamIndia”
