Ahead of the 3rd ODI against Australia, in Ranchi, former Indian captain MS Dhoni presented camouflaged caps to his team-mates in the honour of the Indian armed forces. As a remarkable gesture, the Men in Blue will be donning camouflaged army caps in the third One-Day game against Australia to pay tribute to the CRPF jawans who lost their lives in Pulwama terror attack that shook the country two weeks ago.
Indian wicketkeeper MS Dhoni, whose connection with the Indian army is well known, presented the caps to his team ahead of the toss. Henceforth, this act of honour to the armed forces will be followed religiously by the Indian cricket team. The BCCI will, form now on, have one International game every calendar year where the players will wear camouflaged caps to honour the Indian Armed Forces.
India is currently leading the five-match series against Australia by a margin of 2-0. A win in the Ranchi ODI will mean a series triumph. Besides Dhoni, who is a Lt. Col. with the Territorial Army, Indian captain Virat Kohli also announced at the toss that the whole of the team will donate their match fees of the game to the National Defence Fund. The face of the Indian Cricket team further advised everyone in the nation to provide aid to the families of the army in every way that they can.
“Yes, it is a special cap. It is to pay respect to the martyrs of the Pulwama attack and their families. All the players in the team have decided to donate their match fees of this game to the National Defence Fund,” Kohli said. I, as the captain of the team would urge everyone in the country to do the same, and help in the education and well-being of the families and children of those who lost their lives in the attack. So, yes, it is a special cap and is going to be a very special game.”

So the Indian team will wear army camouflage style caps today in tribute to, and in solidarity with, the armed forces. Maybe in future, one cricket day will be dedicated to the armed forces. No surprise this is a Dhoni initiative.
