There were quite some questions raised after the dismal performance of India against New Zealand. Doubts were raised if the batsmen can handle the tough swinging conditions. There were suspicions raised about India’s middle-order. Although the ‘Men in Blue’ didn’t face a bowling attack of the same quality as New Zealand, the conditions were still overcast putting them through a stern test. When all the odds were against them, MS Dhoni and KL Rahul rose up to the occasion.
Neither Shikhar Dhawan go all guns blazing nor Rohit Sharma could make the most of the time he spent in the middle. Skipper Virat Kohli also got out after scoring 47 runs off 46 balls. When Vijay Shankar was dismissed for 2, the team seemed to be in all sorts of trouble at 102/4. But then came a 164-run partnership between Rahul and Dhoni. Both of them took some time initially to settle in and had the big shots going once they got their eye in. They complemented each other well and batted with great intent.
The duo absolutely latched onto the loose balls and accelerated well. Rahul got to his century first and got out after piling up 108 runs off 99 balls. In the latter part of the innings, it was Dhoni’s turn who rolled back years and reminded the fans of the vintage MSD. He took 73 balls to get to his ton but got out in the final over for 113 runs. The impetus he provided towards the end helped the side get to 359/7 in 50 overs.
Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das fight hard but fail to prevent the inevitable
A chase of 360 was always a tough ask for Bangladesh. Twin blows in the game didn’t help their cause either. They first lost Soumya Sarkar and Shakib Al Hasan off consecutive balls in the 10th over for 25 and 0 runs respectively. Then Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das stitched together a good partnership. But once Das got out for 73, it became a little too much of an asking for the wicket-keeper. He tried hard but perished to Kuldeep for 90 runs.
The Indian bowlers cleared the remaining middle-order batsmen quickly. Saifuddin and Mehidy Hasan tried to put up a fightback towards the end but it was just like water on a duck’s back. The team was ultimately bowled out for 249 in 49.3 overs falling 95 runs short of the target. The Indian fans expressed happiness on Twitter after this comprehensive win. Most of the discussions revolved around MS Dhoni, KL Rahul and the wrist spinners – Kuldeep and Chahal.
Here is how the fans responded to India’s comprehensive win on Twitter:

Hearing a lot about the no. 4 slot again, hope the team management isn’t waiting for the last warm-up game to take these crucial calls . if that’s the case……… doesn’t sound right IMHO ???????? #WorldCup2019

KL Rahul is definitely not my favourite player for that position but he has showed the hunger desire and willingness to fight which is a great sign for Team India #INDvBAN

78 ball 113. Strike Rate 144. Dhoni has announced his arrival in England. At the same venue where Team India, under his captaincy, started the victorious #CT13 campaign. Good signs. ☺️???? #CWC19

Is there still any argument about whether K L Rahul will get the start at No 4????? #ICCCWC2019

Rahul showing his class , looked so much at ease in a fine century. And Dhoni showing what he is made of, smashing hundred. The middle order in form at the right time for India. #BANvIND

MS Dhoni’s fastest centuries in Indian colours have come in the warm-up games ahead of the World Cup.

There are only two things people love to watch in India:
Dhoni ki dhulai aur JCB ki khudai !#INDvBAN #JCBKiKhudai— Jigar Lad (@rootbashh) May 28, 2019

Few positives for India from the 2 warm-ups:-
• Jadeja’s batting
•Rahul’s performance at no.4
•Dhoni’s retention of IPL form
•Wrist spinners got wickets#INDvBAN #CricketWorldCup2019— Himanshu Neb (@HimanshuNeb) May 28, 2019

Some serious question must be asked to Bangladesh Cricket team Captain. Why did he let India to face part timer so many overs after being down by 102/4.Something wasn’t right at all.@Sah75official body language was poor with the bat & bowl. #INDvBAN
