Delhi batsman Rishabh Pant entered the record books after scoring a brisk triple century. Delhi were down after Maharashtra had piled on the agony for them on the first 2 days of the match. Not much was expected from them but Pant had his plans. He struck a brilliant three hundred in the second round of the Ranji Trophy. Pant’s triple ton came for Delhi against Maharashtra at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Maharashtra had piled on a mammoth total of 635 kudos to a record 594-run stand between Swapnil Gugale and Ankeet Bawane. Swapnil Gugale had hit a masterly unbeaten 351 and his partner Ankeet Bawane remained unbeaten on 258. In response, Delhi were looking at following on. However, Pant’s triple gave them a good stance at ensuring a drop.

His triple ton came in just 320 balls as he struck his highest score in FC career. He was eventually dismissed on 308 in 326 balls with 42 fours and 9 sixes. His strike rate of over 94 was the key highlight of his innings. From the former players to his fans, Rishabh Pant is trending on the social media at the moment. Congratulatory messages are flowing his way from all corners.

Delhi bundled out for 590 in their first innings. They fell short by 45 runs in their attempt to overhaul the mighty total set by Maharashtra. Talking to the BCCI.tv, Pant had earlier quoted that it is the big tons that matter the most at the moment. He had earlier struck 146 against Assam in Delhi’s opening match of the season.

He had quoted then, “I was out for 146; that will count as a hundred. So, either I have to score 150 or 200 (to make it count). Hundred doesn’t have much value in today’s day and age, you have to score at least a double ton if you want to play good cricket (get noticed and go to the next level). Whatever you score over and above that adds value to you as well. So I had decided that the next time I get a chance I have to score big no matter what. I have to do better than what I had in the first match.”
