Twitter Reactions: Twitterati not pleased with MS Dhoni’s early dismissal

Team India had a huge task at hand. In the very first ODI of the series the visitors belted their bowlers hard and milked 350 runs batting first. At the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune the Indian openers KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan walked out and back with the team score not even crossing the single digit. Yuvraj Singh played a cameo but soon got out. In walked MS Dhoni amidst a loud cheer from the Pune crowd.

The former Indian skipper was out to bat with skipper Virat Kohli and for the first time in ODIs after stepping down as the limited-overs captain of the team. Dhoni looked in a different mood today. He played a crunchy off-side shot early to collect a boundary and with a mountain total ahead of them he approached the game differently. The first ball he faced off Ben Stokes attempted was an outside off delivery and he to cut it, only for the ball to miss the outside edge of his bat.

Eoin Morgan brought in Jake Ball for the next over and Dhoni charged down against him as well. He stepped down the track and tried to pull a short delivery. It was nowhere close to the middle of the bat and he was hurried on by pace and undone by the height as well. The ball went high in the air and could just travel up to the mid-on fielder David Willey who took a simple catch.

Dhoni scored 6 runs in his knock in 6 balls and was on the way back to the pavilion while the team still required close to 300 runs to win the game. It was so much unlike MSD who usually likes to run the initial few runs of his innings before taking risks and only does so if the match situation is completely in their favour.
