The Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Kings XI Punjab have had contrasting fortunes in the IPL 2018. While the former has started to pick up pace after a very poor start, the latter seems to be losing the plot after a very impressive start. With the business end of the tournament coming close, all matches are predominantly must win games for every side.
For the Royal Challengers Bangalore, in particular, every game is a must win game if they wish to stay afloat in the race for the playoffs. Now, at the half way stage of the game against the Kings XI Punjab, the RCB camp would believe they have a very good chance to win the game.
Coming to the proceedings, the RCB skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and stuck to the act he does the best – chase in the crunch game. The Kings were disappointed to not have Mujeeb Rahman for the game. The KXIP openers, Chris Gayle and KL Rahul, added 36 runs for the first wicket and it looked like a very steady start for them.
It was in the fifth over of the game that the fortunes changed directions. Umesh Yadav had done this earlier against the same opposition this season and he did it again. He struck twice in the over to dismiss both the openers. In the very next over, Mohammad Siraj dismissed Karun Nair to break the back of the Kings top order.
Soon, the other RCB bowlers also joined in the party to dismantle the KXIP batting order. Aaron Finch showed brief resistance by scoring 26 off 23 deliveries but was dismissed in the 12th over by Moeen Ali. The wicket kept tumbling the innings never really found an anchor. The KXIP innings eventually folded on 88 in 15.1 overs. This is the second lowest total this season. For RCB, Umesh Yadav was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/23 to his name.

What poor cricket from @lionsdenkxip this is really bad from them. @RCBTweets should treat this as a 10 over game and close it. They will need to improve their NRR and this is their chance.
