Whenever the team needs, he is always there. Virat Kohli never misses out on giving his 100 percent but he was missing out on playing big knocks in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Well, no more! He took up the responsibility in AB de Villiers’ absence and made sure he played through the innings on his way to a 57-ball century. RCB posted a massive total of 213 runs on the board for the loss of four wickets after 20 overs.
Kohli opened the innings along with Parthiv Patel and the slow pitch surprised everyone. Many thought it wouldn’t be easy to bat on the surface as the ball didn’t come onto the bat. It was a slow start for the visitors and while trying to force the pace, Parthiv Patel got out to Sunil Narine. The promotion to Akshdeep Nath didn’t work wonders but he did his job.
RCB were not really well placed at the halfway mark but the duo of Moeen Ali and Kohli changed the complexion of the game in a matter of minutes.
Moeen and Kohli rip apart KKR
They got together at 59/2 in the ninth over and after settling in a bit, Moeen Ali went severe against the bowling attack of the home side. Kuldeep Yadav was at the receiving end here as the England batsman smacked 27 for him in a single over and this is where the turn around began for RCB. Though Ali got out in the same over, he had scored 66 off just 27 balls to give his team a hope to get to 200.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli was set and had got to his half-century of 40 deliveries. After Moeen’s wicket, he took the onus of scoring runs at an extremely rapid pace in the last four overs. It was an exhibition of some classy shots at the Eden Gardens as Kohli smacked Harry Gurney in the 17th over.
The carnage had just begun and the World’s number 1 batsman was eyeing a century on the day. Marcus Stoinis also joined in to have some fun. But Virat Kohli wasn’t going to relent. He was hitting out of the middle of the bat and he made the most of it. Eventually, the innings got over and he got out off the final ball of the innings. But he had done enough to propel RCB to 213 runs and it is up to bowlers now to defend the gigantic total.

That was really enjoy watching that @imVkohli hundred. Quite a few interesting knocks in this years #viviipl where openers are seeing the importance of batting through the innings or going deep. Let’s see if @RCBTweets can defend this total.
