India managed to pull things back into their favor after Australia raced off to a spectacular start in the 3rd ODI at Indore. The wrist-spinners were once again at the heart of things and though conceded a lot of runs, they picked up wickets which turned the game on its head.

David Warner and Finch gave a splendid start for the visitors as they added 70 runs for the first wicket. Finch and Steve Smith laid a magnificent foundation for the lower order to come and finish the innings in style. Finch was in full flow and Smith played the second fiddle brilliantly. Finch brought up his 8th ODI hundred in his comeback game and the skipper brought up his fifty as well.

Once again, it’s Kuldeep Yadav

The duo added a brilliant 153-run stand for the second wicket and Australia was looking well set for a total of 350 or more. In an attempt to bolster their command in the innings before the final 10 overs commenced, Kuldeep Yadav struck for India and brought his side back on track.

Finch tried for a big shot and was caught at deep mid-wicket and Steve Smith followed him in Kuldeep’s next over. Yuzvendra Chahal dismissed Maxwell for the third time in this series and their run-rate started dipping. Jasprit Bumrah too joined the party and picked up few crucial wickets.

He first cleaned up Travis Head’s stumps with a brilliant cutter. Next in the suit was Peter Handscomb, who audaciously charged down the ground to do something extravagant and Manish Pandey took a blinder on the boundary ropes. He had some juggling and balancing to do, but he managed to grab the catch making it look ridiculously easy on the eye.

Marcus Stoinis tried his best in the final few overs, but he failed to take his side over the 300-mark. Australia finished at 293 for the loss of six wickets in 50 overs. There was a stage when India would’ve gladly accepted anything less than 350, but their bowlers pulled out their A game in the final stages and gifted a much-needed momentum going into the run chase.
