After a day’s break, the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) was back in action on Tuesday. The Jamaica Tallawahs were up against the St Lucia Stars at the Sabina Park in Jamaica. The Tallawahs, who started off this season with an unforgettable win continued their dominance in this encounter as well.

The hosts won the match by 6 wickets as the winless streak for the St Lucia Stars continued. This is their 14th loss in a row and their previous win dates all the way back to 2016. Although they managed to get this game close, the dropped catches and injuries didn’t help their cause. The Tallawahs now lead the points table with 4 points.

A ‘sorry’ batting performance from the St Lucia Stars

The St Lucia Stars have struggled terribly with the bat so this season. Starting off the tournament with being bowled out for 95 runs, they lost their next game by 3 runs as their batsmen failed to chase 142. Although they did well enough to get to 175 in this game, they were about 10-15 runs short in the end.

The David Warner tragedy with the bat continued in this game as well. He was dismissed after scoring only 7 runs. However, his partner Andre Fletcher did manage to get 43 off 33 balls. With the help of a 24-ball 36 from Darren Sammy, the team got 175 although they were bowled out on the last ball. Oshane Thomas and Adam Zampa picked 3 wickets each.

The openers lay down the perfect platform for an easy chase

In the chase, the Tallawahs’ openers started out beautifully and hence made it easier for the other batsmen. While wicket-keeper Glenn Phillips scored 58 off 40, his partner Johnson Charles racked up 31 runs off just 20 balls. Rovman Powell ensured that he stayed in the middle till the end and finished off the chase with 43 runs from 23 balls. Skipper Andre Russell couldn’t wind his magic with the bat and mustered only 3 runs.

Twitterati was very disappointed with David Warner‘s form. He has been undergoing a string of failures now and didn’t have a great Global T20 Canada either. They also congratulated Adam Zampa for his bowling performance and lauded the Jamaica Tallawahs’ efforts.
