Twitter Reactions: Yasir Shah picks up four as West Indies find themselves in a spot of bother on Day 4
Pakistan would consider themselves favourites here to clinch the game at Sabina Park come Day 5.
Day 4 at Kingston witnessed two Pakistan batsmen get to their individual milestones after Younis Khan became Pakistan’s first member to proudly march into the 10k club. Captain Misbah-ul-Haq and Asad Shafiq started proceedings from their overnight identical scores of 5 from 35.
Misbah would have had his heart in his mouth as Vishaul Singh dropped him at short leg. His partner at the other end though wasn’t as lucky as he edged one straight to the keeper. In came Sarfraz Ahmed and set to work on a handy 88-run partnership with his captain.
Skipper Misbah survived another small scare as the West Indies decided to review a Devendra Bishoo delivery that crashed into Misbah’s pads. However, as history has had it so far, questioning the Kettleborough was once again fruitless. Misbah went to lunch 2 runs shy of his 5000.
After their sumptuous meals, wickets began to tumble for the visitors. Sarfraz departed for a well-made 54. Pakistan’s tailenders added just 29 runs before heading back to the dressing room. Unfortunately for Misbah, he was left agonisingly short of a Test century in his farewell series as he remained unbeaten on 99.
The West Indies once again came in to bat with 121 arrears. This time around, Yasir Shah took advantage of a deteriorating track that offered turn and some uneven bounce. He struck in his very first ball as he flattened Kraigg Brathwaite’s off stump. He then removed debutant Hetmyer.
The hosts were still 49 runs behind when Shai Hope came in. He didn’t last long either as a quicker delivery from Yasir rapped Hope’s pads and would have gone on to crash into middle stump. The West Indies also wasted an important review. Finally, Yasir Shah picked up the all-important wicket of Kieran Powell, who was looking steady on 49.
Yasir got all four wickets to fall so far, and the West Indies would surely find themselves in a spot of bother. They trailed Pakistan by 28 at Stumps on Day 4 with some batting yet to come in the form of Roston Chase, Shane Dowich and Jason Holder. Pakistan would consider themselves favourites here to clinch the game at Sabina Park come Day 5.
