Twitter reacts after Mumbai Police arrests Suresh Raina

Former Indian swashbuckling batsman Suresh Raina constantly made headlines in the latter part of 2020 but for all the wrong reasons. After being involved in a controversy for abruptly leaving the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), another controversy erupted on Tuesday for Raina as he was arrested by the Mumbai Police for partying in a club in Mumbai beyond the permissible time limits and violating the social distancing protocols.

A total of 34 people were arrested including notable personalities like Raina, Guru Randhawa, and Sussane Khan after Mumbai police carried out a raid around 2:50 AM at the club situated in Hotel JW Marriot in Andheri. However, all the persons involved were released by the police later on bail.

It is learned that Raina had travelled to Mumbai from Delhi to participate in an event. After arresting Suresh Raina, Mumbai Police had released an official statement confirming the arrest of 34 people under section 188, 269, 34of IPC, Bombay Police Act and Epidemic Disease Act.

“Offence has been registered u/s 188, 269, 34 IPC and u/s 51 NDMA against 34 persons at Sahar police station after raid was conducted at 2.50 AM at Dragonfly pub, for keeping establishment open beyond the permissible time limit, not following Covid norms such as social distancing, not wearing face mask,” the statement read.

This incident involving Suresh Raina has become a talking point on social media as people are coming up with hilarious trolls and memes. Also, the cricketer is getting massively trolled for not following the Covid-19 health guidelines laid out by the authorities. Notably, the people present in the party were neither wearing a mask nor following social-distancing.

The official Twitter handle of Mumbai Police also trolled the cricketer for violating the social distancing protocols and other guidelines with the help of a famous Bollywood Song.

“Party (Nahin) Chalegi Till Six In The Morning! A raid was conducted at a nightclub in Andheri at around 3 am, for flouting COVID prevention norms Action has been initiated against 34 people, out of which 19 were from Delhi & Punjab, including some celebrities #NewNormal,” the tweet read.
