MS Dhoni is not just a cricketer but also an ambassador of the game. The 37-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman is one who not only guides and advises his teammates during a match but also gives tips to youngsters from the opponent teams. On Sunday, Dhoni was seen giving tips to Kings XI Punjab’s young player Nicholas Pooran on how to keep the wickets. The 23-year-old Caribbean, who has played an ODI and 11 T20Is and is a wicket-keeper, too, was also trying to learn the maximum from the legendary wicket-keeper.

Pooran and Dhoni were also accompanied by KXIP cricketers KL Rahul and Ravichandran Ashwin. The KXIP defeated Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings in the final league match in Mohali by 6 wickets on Sunday but fell short of a place in the playoffs despite ending with same points with the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders. All the three teams ended at 12 points but the Sunrisers went through owing to a better net run-rate.

The CSK, who had a great tournament up front winning seven of their first eight games, failed to carry on with the momentum in the later half as they slumped to defeat in four out of six games. The CSK eventually finished second in the points table and will take on toppers Mumbai Indians in the first qualifier in Chennai on Tuesday. Whoever will win the game will make the finals.

Dhoni did well this IPL despite injury problems

Coming back to Dhoni, the keeper-batsman has had his stints with injury this season and missed a couple of games because of back spasms and illness. However, he still did well with the bat to finish as the top scorer for his side with 368 runs in 12 matches at an average of 122.6 and strike rate of 139 plus. His keeping has also been of high quality this season and he was seen giving tips to young players during the tournament about the nuances of the glovework.

The Twitterati came up with reactions to Dhoni’s demonstrations to Pooran and others after the picture was shared by the CSK on their official Twitter handle.
