Much has been spoken about David Warner’s form. And it was at the Chinnaswamy stadium where Warner decided to end all the furore going around regarding his form with a blistering knock. The opener slammed his 14th One Day International ton with this being his first international century in India.
In what was his 100th ODI game for Australia, Warner graced the occasion and put up a sensational display of batting. After receiving so much flak, the southpaw gave it all back in style as he played some fantastic shots all over the ground. Whether it was the pacers or the spinning duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Axar Patel, all of them were taken to the cleaners.
Earlier in the day, it was skipper Steve Smith who won the toss as Australia elected to bat first. The visitors made two changes as they had Matthew Wade and Adam Zampa back into the playing XI. India on the other hand, rested the trio of Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar while Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav and Axar Patel were brought in.
Australia had a magnificent start to their innings. David Warner and Aaron Finch put up a staggering partnership of 231 runs for the first wicket. The Indian bowlers, on the other hand, failed to make a difference as Warner literally toyed with them. He played a stupendous inning of 124 runs from just 119 balls, batting at the helm. He hit 10 boundaries and 3 sixes in the knock.
It was Kedhar Jadhav out of all bowlers who managed to get the better of the Australian vice-captain. Trying to heave it over long on, Warner found Patel there as it brought an end to a stellar batting performance by the opener.
Twitter was all awe-inspired as the Aussie opener announced his return to form in style. While some of them showered their praises, the Indian fans expected him to get out, now that he scored a century. Various experts had their statistical analysis on Warner’s knock ready.
