Rohit Sharma has been in prime form ever since his return to international cricket after injury. He has continued to entertain crowds with his big hitting and today was no different for the opener. As India played their final One Day International of the series in Nagpur, Rohit Sharma scored a spectacular hundred to help India seal the series 4-1.
Chasing a total of 243, Rohit Sharma began really slow. While Ajinkya Rahane got some runs, Rohit Sharma failed to get off the mark for the first 13 balls. However, the way he transformed his batting later into the innings was quite sensational. Hitting some classical shots, Rohit led the run chase for India.
He and Rahane put up a 124 runs partnership for the first wicket as they gave India a splendour start. Rohit Sharma reached many milestones as his innings progressed. First of all, he became the fastest to reach 2000 runs in India. He completed his half-century in quick time.
While Rahane got out, skipper Virat Kohli walked in and he alongside Rohit added 99 run partnership for the third wicket. Rohit Sharma continued to attain milestones as he became the ninth Indian player to score 6000 runs in ODIs.
He reached his hundred in style by hitting a six, with the crowd applauding and the dressing room at their feet. In what was his 14th ODI hundred, he also became the fifth highest centurion for India in ODIs. He didn’t stop as he continued to hit some blazing shots.
He got out to Zampa trying to smash another one which landed towards deep mid-wicket. In his magnificent innings of 125 runs from just 109 balls, Rohit hit 11 boundaries and 5 sixes. India went on to chase the target with more than 6 overs remaining as they won by 7 wickets.
Here are some of the amazing Twitter reactions on Rohit Sharma’s astounding innings:
That's what I love about Rohit, he may start slow but once he gets going, he can cover up for the slow start, can't say the same for Rahane.

Hugely enjoyable watching Rohit Sharma bat today. In terms of runs/innings & strike rate, not too different from Kohli in the last 2 years
