After the loss in the One-Day Series by 2-1, South Africa was spirited to win the match and series today at Cardiff. Having lost the first match of the series, the team came back brilliantly to win against the England in the second game of the season.
The English team perplexed one and all when Jos Buttler led the side in place of their captain Eoin Morgan, who opted out of the match and was seen in the commentary box. However, he came out and clarified that eyeing the development of the side, Morgan took the decision to stand down and give an opportunity to a larger pool of players.
David Malan, who made his debut thanks to Morgan opting out of the match, made the international stage his own with the help of his quality innings of 78 off just 44 deliveries, smashing everything in sight for 12 boundaries and a couple of maximums, striking at a rate of 177. He was well supported by Alex Hales and stand-in skipper Jos Buttler who chipped in with vital cameos.
Meanwhile, Jason Roy found a new mode of dismissal to get himself out, as he became the first batsman to be dismissed obstructing the field. South African bowlers managed to come back into the game during the death, as England could only pile on 181 runs, losing eight wickets. Dane Paterson was the pick of the bowlers managed to clinch as many as four wickets.
Chasing the English total, the men in green were never in the game as they constantly lost wickets at regular intervals. AB de Villiers, J Smuts, Mosehle and Phehlukwayo only threatened to pose an issue in front of the home team. In the end, it was a bit too much for the lower order of South Africa as they lost the match by a margin of 19 runs and lost the series by 2-1.

Brilliant death bowling from South Africa! I reckon England have a par score! Game on! Malan was exceptional, proper knock ?! #ENGvSA #Malan
— James Taylor (@jamestaylor20) June 25, 2017
Very good at the death from South Africa but on a pitch getting slower 181 is a good score. #ENGvsSA #T20

An entertaining T20 series that showed depth of talent in England. Other countries should consider an 18-county system 😉 #ENGvSA

This South Africa one day side is pretty ordinary #ENGvSA

Dawid Malan first England batsman to make a 50 in his T20I debut!#EngvSA
— Mohandas Menon (@mohanstatsman) June 25, 2017
Dawid Malan's score is the highest by a England player on T20I debut beating Collingwood's 46 in England's first ever T20I in 2005. #ENGvSA

Tom Curran got a decent slower ball, just hope he doesnt prove to be another Dernbach. #EngvSA

#ENGvSA The old SA making a comeback after just one match? #HuffingAndPuffing
— The Killing Joke (@rafael_bwn) June 25, 2017
The seam position on Curran's back of the hand slower ball is impeccable – an influence, perhaps, of Surrey teammate Jade Dernbach. #EngvSA

One Ok-ish performance and two absolutely appalling performances. This T20 series has been a farce at times. #ENGvSA

#ENGvSA ? Phehlukwayo & Mosehle adding some respectability to batting
— Noel Crowie (@crowieN) June 25, 2017
Oh dear David Willey is getting destroyed, lacks the real pace & bounce to bowl at the death. #ENGvSA
— 10/350 μs (@Ceraunic) June 25, 2017
Willey doing his best to make this an exciting end. #ENGvSA
— John Hueston (@johnrhueston) June 25, 2017
#ENGvSA Willey cannon fodder at the death. This is why you should always have 6 bowling options. Should have used Livingstone earlier.
— Rich Price (@richprice16) June 25, 2017
Can someone please explain David Willeys tactics here? #bbccricket #ENGvSA #bowltoyourfield

The cameramen have been absolutely awful for this game #ENGvSA
— Matt Richards (@Mr_MR_R) June 25, 2017
Willey conceded 6 off his first 2 overs & 34 off his last 2 overs – an exaggeration of his T20I career phase ERs of 7.00 v 10.37. #EngvSA
