Twitter set ablaze after Jaydev Unadkat wreaks havoc

Jaydev Unadkat stole the show and shattered some records as teams went into a bidding war for the Porbandar-born fast-bowler.

The Indian Premier League, over the past seasons, including the auctions has thrown up many surprises. The news shocked many and immediately grabbed the headlines. One such occasion panned out on the second day of the Indian Premier League auction in Bangalore. There were several Indian pacers on display including the likes of Vinay Kumar and Sandeep Sharma.

However, Jaydev Unadkat stole the show and shattered some records as teams went into a bidding war for the Porbandar-born fast-bowler. He was eventually sold for a whopping 11.5 crores to the Rajasthan Royals. Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab started bidding for the left-arm seamer. However, after Punjab’s bid of 11 crores, CSK bowed out. However, Rajasthan Royals, out of the blues, entered the bidding.

The Kings XI Punjab management had a long chat after which the pacer was bagged by the Royals. Meanwhile, he also became the Indian grosser in the current auction. Unadkat also attracted the second highest bid after Ben Stokes was grabbed by the same franchise yesterday for a staggering 12.5 crores. He also got the highest bid ever by an Indian seamer in the history of the tournament.

An impressive last season for Unadkat

Jaydev Unadkat had an impressive IPL season for the Rising Pune Supergiants last season. He was impressive with his variations, especially at the death and managed to pick up wickets consistently. With some stupendous performances under his belt, he also featured in the list of the top wicket-takers in the tournament.

However, his best performance in the tournament came against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in a round-robin game. He picked up a hat-trick in the final over of the game and guided the Steve Smith-led team to a stupendous victory. Subsequently, he was adjudged the Player of the Match. He has also represented the Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Daredevils and the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.
