Rishabh Pant was the talk of the town before the start of India’s T20I series against South Africa, unfortunately, not for good reasons. His inability to control his aggressive shots which are time and again letting him and the team down led to Ravi Shastri clearly stating some harsh words for the youngster. Even the new batting coach Vikram Rathour opened up about the same while both of them praised Pant for the talent which he possessed.

Come the Mohali game, where the 2nd T20I was played, many expected for the southpaw to respond to all the criticism by putting up a decent show with the bat. Pant got a great opportunity to do so as he entered in the chase with India settled nicely at 94/2 and the skipper Virat Kohli looking good. India needed 56 off 50 balls and Pant could’ve just spent time in the middle to gain confidence.

Pant gets out to a horrible delivery

With all the focus on him, Rishabh Pant started by picking a couple of singles as many felt the youngster was showing some composure to start with. But in the 14th over which was being delivered by Bjorn Fortuin, the left-arm spinner, he got out to a horrible ball. Fortuin dragged the ball down the legside and it was short too which Pant could’ve hit anywhere.

But the left-hander could only splice it with all his power to the short fine-leg fielder’s throat where Tabraiz Shamsi was stationed. There was silence in the crowd as two wickets had fallen in quick succession for the hosts even as the distraught Rishabh Pant walked back to the dressing room after mustering only four runs.

The cameraman also showed visuals from India’s change room where the batting coach Rathour penned something down soon after Pant got out. No wonder, Pant will have to work on his temperament and Twitterati thrashed him for playing another atrocious shot.
