In the early hours of Monday, English all-rounder Ben Stokes was arrested for involvement in an incident in Bristol. He had to spend the whole night in the prison before he was let out of the jail in the morning. The cops didn’t file any charges against him in the case.
English and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed that Stokes was briefly in police custody and was released later, teammate Alex Hales was with him to assist the investigation. As a result both Hales and Stokes won’t be joining the squad for the fourth One-Day International against the visiting West Indian side to be played in London.
Previous incidents Stokes has been involved in
It was, however, not the first time that the all-rounder spent time in prison; the 26-year-old being picked by the police in 2012 during a night out. ECB has in the past twice initiated disciplinary action against him once for getting drunk at night while on tour with the England Lions and later when he punched the locker in the team change room.
“Ben Stokes and Alex Hales will not be available for tomorrow’s One-Day International match against West Indies at The Oval. Stokes was arrested in the early hours of Monday morning, 25 September, following an incident in Bristol,” read the official statement from the English team director Andrew Strauss.
The investigators also issued a statement which read: “We were called to a disorder in Queens Road, Clifton, at around 2.35am on Monday (25 September). A 27-year-old man was found to have suffered facial injuries and was taken to the Bristol Royal Infirmary for treatment,” it mentioned.
“A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm and has since been released under investigation,” the police added.
Twitter, however, did not spare either of the two English players. Here are the best reactions:

I hope Ben Stokes and Alex Hales are announcing the formation of a crime-fighting team.

Ben Stokes injured his hand in an incident in a bar in Bristol. I'm sure there's a perfectly good explanation for that… pic.twitter.com/sHwQqlInj2
