Twitter takes apart Russel Arnold for putting forth Sri Lanka's show in their previous Test at Lord's

The ongoing Test match between England and India hasn’t been a smooth ride for the visiting team by any stretch of the imagination. The first day’s play at Edgbaston in Birmingham was washed out owing to persistent rain. In the first innings, they were bowled out for a paltry 107 runs in 35.2 overs. James Anderson ripped the heart out of the visitors’ batting lineup with a stupendous five-wicket-haul.
For India, Ravichandran Ashwin top scored with 29 runs. Virat Kohli, the Indian captain, who was phenomenal in the opening match, couldn’t counter the might of the English attack. In England’s first innings, Mohammed Shami and the Indian pacers picked up some quick wickets to push the Brits on the backfoot. However, Jonny Bairstow and Chris Woakes brought the Poms back into the game.

Both cobbled together a stand of 189 runs to virtually bat India out of the encounter. Chris Woakes, who made his comeback following a quad and knee injury, notched his maiden Test century and eventually finished with 137 runs from 177 balls. Bairstow was unlucky to miss out on a ton. England, eventually stacked a lead of 289 runs to put the skids under Kohli’s men.
Meanwhile, Russel Arnold, the current commentator, reminisced Sri Lanka’s previous Test match at Lord’s. Earlier in 2016, Sri Lanka last played against England at the ‘Mecca of Cricket’ and the match ended in a draw. The visitors lead by Angelo Mathews put up a resolute performance to deny Alastair Cook’s men a victory at the ‘Home of Cricket.
Russel Arnold talked about the match and wrote on Twitter, “The last time Sri Lanka played a test at Lords … it was a draw — just saying”.
