Pakistan always comes under pressure while playing against India in the major events it seems. They opted to bat first after winning the toss on a good pitch but their openers looked tentative from the word go. The fact that Fakhar Zaman has been out of form is the reason for that which affected their run-rate in the ongoing encounter. He played a plethora of dot balls and eventually got out in a weird fashion.

India’s new ball bowlers were once again spot on not giving easy runs upfront. The pressure built even more after Imam-ul-Haq’s wicket thanks to MS Dhoni’s decision to go for a review. The spinners were finishing overs quickly which forced Fakhar to open up his arms. He got a couple of the middle of the bat as well as the Pakistan fans thought they were in for a special knock from the left-hander.

Gets into a complete mess

The fifteenth over bowled by Kuldeep Yadav began with a boundary from Fakhar Zaman who slog-swept a flighted delivery to get some quick runs. Having been successful on the previous occasion, the batsman once again tried to play a sweep shot. He took a long stride forward to play the shot but slipped and got himself into a complete mess.

The Indians appealed and it was obvious that the umpire was going to give it out. He pondered taking a review for some time and after discussing it with his partner Babar Azam decided against it. However, the replays showed that the ball never hit his pad and it had brushed his gloves when Fakhar went for the sweep shot. If he had taken the review, Pakistan would’ve been in a much better position by now and would’ve scored more than 31 runs.

Twitterati was all over him for a poor decision while some also thrashed him for playing extremely slow which put his team under pressure.
