Twitter trolls Sanjay Manjrekar after Ravindra Jadeja had enough of his ‘verbal diarrhoea’
Manjrekar called Jadeja a player of 'bits and pieces'.
Sanjay Manjrekar, the former Indian cricketer, has been a commentator for quite some time now. He has been seen commentating on various big tournaments across the globe. However, he isn’t among the most popular presenters doing the rounds in world cricket. Manjrekar is a brutal critique and doesn’t mince any words in bashing players while being on air.
The retired batsman always tries to churn out weaknesses and shortcomings of other cricketer and there have been complaints of bias against him. Recently, a supporter wrote a letter to the International Cricket Council (ICC), the apex cricket board, expressing displeasure over Manjrekar’s commentary. A fan named Addie Kumar slammed Manjrekar for showing bias on air.
During one of the games, Sanjay used the word ‘our’ when MS Dhoni was keeping. The commentator called the 37-year-old Dhoni ‘our watch-dog behind the stumps. The comments didn’t go down well with the fan and he lashed out severely at the 53-year-old. Recently, the matter has gotten a bit more serious as Ravindra Jadeja has lately had an altercation with Manjrekar.
Jadeja hits back at Sanjay Manjrekar
Manjrekar called Jadeja a player of ‘bits and pieces’ and said like he doesn’t like the player of his quality. The commentator said that he considered the all-rounder as a pure bowler in Test cricket. But for ODIs, he didn’t think the same. Manjrekar said that he would rather have a batsman and a spinner in 50-overs cricket. The words didn’t please Jadeja by any stretch of the imagination.
The Saurashtra cricketer slammed the experienced commentator, highlighting the number of matches both have played over their career. While Jadeja has played 151 ODIs, 41 Tests and 40 T20Is for the Men in Blue at the highest level, Manjrekar had donned the national jersey in 37 Tests and 74 ODIs.
He took to Twitter and wrote, “Still i have played twice the number of matches you have played and i m still playing. Learn to respect ppl who have achieved.i have heard enough of your verbal diarrhoea. @sanjaymanjrekar,”
