Twitter wants Krunal Pandya back in the Indian team
Jadeja replaced Hardik in the playing eleven against Bangladesh.
India are currently playing the first match of the Super 4 of the 2018 Asia Cup against Bangladesh. The Men in Blue won all their matches in the group stage and finished atop Group A in the points table. In the meantime, the team has had to encounter a lot of injury concerns. In the previous match against Pakistan at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Hardik Pandya developed a lower back injury.
He collapsed in his run-up and couldn’t get up. Subsequently, he was carried off the park on a stretcher. Manish Pandey replaced him in the outfield. After his injury, Rajasthan-born Deepak Chahar, who made his international debut in a T20I against England, was drafted in as his replacement. In the meantime, Ravindra Jadeja came in place of spin-bowling all-rounder Axar Patel.
Twitter calls for Krunal’s inclusion
However, in the match against the Tigers in Dubai, Jadeja was included in the lineup. Nevertheless, Twitter isn’t happy with Jadeja’s selection. Rather, they want Krunal Pandya, Hardik’s elder brother to make his way into the national team. Krunal has been in the selectors’ radar for quite some time now but has somehow strained to make his way into the team.
He played for India ‘A’ in the triangular series, involving England Lions and Windies ‘A’ on English soil. The southpaw chipped in with some useful runs as well as picked up wickets at regular intervals. The 27-year-old all-rounder is currently playing for Baroda in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and has already churned out a couple of vital contributions.
In Baroda’s first match against Mumbai, albeit his team couldn’t win the match, Krunal scored 85 runs from 111 balls with the help of eight boundaries and a couple of sixes, coming in at number three. Baroda won their second match against Vidarbha and Pandya scored 34 runs to help his team chase down 115. Quite expectantly, Twitter isn’t happy with the selectors overlooking Krunal.
