IPL 2018: Twitter wants Yuvraj Singh in place of Manoj Tiwary

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) started the eleventh season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in grand style with a thumping victory against the Delhi Daredevils (DD). They managed to replicate their form in their subsequent games as well. They brushed aside their opponents on the backs of some stupendous performances by their top-order batsmen.

The likes of KL Rahul and Chris Gayle ensured that the franchise always had the cushion of runs for their bowlers to work with. Moreover, their bowlers in the form of Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Andrew Tye have been in prime form, which has worked out well for the team. Meanwhile, they lost a couple of matches out of their last three games which have pushed them to the third spot in the points table.

Punjab’s troublesome middle-order

Their middle order hasn’t quite been effective, which has been a concerning element for the franchise. In their last game against the Rajasthan Royals, KL Rahul scored 95 runs in a run-chase of 159. However, there was minimum support from the middle order, which undid the good work by the Karnataka-batsman. Punjab have made some changes as the tournament has progressed.

Yuvraj Singh has been in abysmal form in this season’s IPL and has only mustered 64 runs in seven matches at a horrendous average of 12.80. Meanwhile, the southpaw has scored runs at below a run-a-ball, which hasn’t helped his cause of staying put in his position. Manoj Tiwary, the Howrah-born cricketer, has replaced the veteran all-rounder in the playing eleven.

To Punjab’s agony, Tiwary has floundered as well and has only managed eight runs in three games. In the last encounter against Rajasthan, he had the opportunity to be a foil for Rahul, but he was nipped out cheaply by Ben Stokes. Twitter is definitely not happy with Tiwary’s performance and they immediately want Yuvi back into the mix.
