Team India landed in Australia as the favourites to win the series across all the formats thanks to the mess the hosts have found themselves in. But after a couple of T20 Internationals, they are yet to register a win on the tour. In Melbourne they were denied by the rain but the fact that the visitors lost the Brisbane game came down to Rishabh Pant playing a needless ramp shot which turned the match dramatically.
Pant and Dinesh Karthik had brought the equation down to 18 off 10 deliveries from 60 off four overs with some mesmerizing shots. But the rush of blood cost Pant when he tried to guide the ball behind the wickets with a ramp shot and handed an easy catch to the fielder inside the 30-yard circle. India fell short of the target agonisingly by just four runs and went down 0-1 in the series.
With the rain having the final say at the MCG, they now can only level the series and will have to play out of their skins in Sydney.
Pant feels the heat
If Rishabh Pant hadn’t played that shot, things would’ve been different for the tourists at the moment. Even the fans weren’t impressed with him and are irked more with the youngster spending time on social media. He recently posted a picture with Prithvi Shaw after arriving in Sydney where the Test specialists have already arrived and even a four-day warm-up game is scheduled to be played after the T20Is.
Pant will be donning the gloves in the four-match Test series as well and this tour could well be a defining one in his career. This is the reason the fans are concerned about him being all the time on social media and want him to concentrate on his game. It will be interesting to see how the wicket-keeper batsman fares in the whites after impressing in England.
Here’s how Twitter reacted:

Both of you play fearless cricket but there is just a small line of difference between fearless and senseless. #PlayResponsible #AwesomeChamps #Fearless

You are the most irresponsible player at the end. You should know the situation of the match to select such irresponsible shots for which India lost for whom you are there in the middle.

Dude, Wake up and smell the coffee; don’t regret after getting dropped from the team like last time. The opportunity to be part of Indian team is not a joke and so take it seriously if you want to shape your career better.

पहले अपनी कीपिंग और फिटनेस सुधार लो भी,और सही समय पर सही शॉट मारना सीख लो ये तो बाद में ही होता रहेगा।

Concentrate on your game. You played a horrible cricket shot in Brisbane and poor wicket keeping in Melbourne. Photos and selfies don’t make you great
