Twitterati bash controversial Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen for her stern words against Moeen Ali
Moeen is set to play for CSK in the 2021 edition of the IPL.
Bangladesh writer Taslima Nasreen has sprung controversy after she said some stern words about Moeen Ali, the England all-rounder. The 58-year-old is known for her writings on criticism of religion and women’s oppression. For her writings, she received death threats from radical Muslim groups.
Later, she had to leave her country after which she adopted Swedish citizenship. As far as Moeen is concerned, he was in the news after reports of him, asking Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to remove a beer brand logo from his jersey, were doing the rounds.
Moeen was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2020 after which the Virat Kohli-led unit decided to release him ahead of the auction. The Super Kings, then, shelled out INR 7 crore for the veteran all-round cricketer.
In the meantime, the Mymensingh-born Nasreen has again managed to court controversy with her comment on Moeen. She took to Twitter and wrote, “If Moeen Ali were not stuck with cricket, he would have gone to Syria to join ISIS.”

Here’s how the netizens slammed her:
Meanwhile, CSK stated that Moeen didn’t make any request for the removal of the logo from his shirt. “There has been no request made by Moeen to CSK to remove any logo,” Kasi Vishwanathan, the Chief Executive Officer of Chennai Super Kings, was quoted as saying.
Moeen Ali lauds CSK and MS Dhoni
Before taking the field for CSK, Moeen heaped praises on the team for their structured approach. He also is looking forward to plying his trade under the leadership of the 39-year-old MS Dhoni, the three-time IPL-winning skipper.
“I think what differentiates CSK from other teams is actually how they structure everything – from the squad they have to the way they do things. They look a very calm franchise that doesn’t panic,” Moeen said.
“I’ve spoken to players who have played under MS and they tell me how he improves their game. I believe a great captain does that,” he added.
CSK’s opening game is against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 10 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Last year, they failed to make the IPL playoffs, the first time in the history of the IPL.
