Twitterati blame Virat Kohli for Rohit Sharma's continued absence in the Test team
Rohit has scored 1479 runs after playing 25 Test matches so far.
Ever since the selectors have announced India’s Test squad for the last two Tests against England, Rohit Sharma’s fans are fuming. They are not at all impressed with the selection of Prithvi Shaw and Hanuma Vihari who received their maiden call-ups and Rohit continued to stay out of the team. However, the fans have lashed out at the captain Virat Kohli for keeping him out of the longest format of the game.
Rohit has so far featured in 25 Test matches for India and has scored 1479 runs at an average close to 40 with 3 centuries to his name. But he struggles when the ball swings and India’s limited-overs opener was given chances during South Africa tour at the expense of Ajinkya Rahane‘s place in the team. But he failed to latch on to the opportunity and failed miserably which led to the selectors deciding to move on from him.
Will Rohit make a comeback?
With the selection of Shaw and Vihari in the team, it seems tough for Rohit Sharma to make a comeback to the Test side. He will have to pile on the runs in the domestic first-class season to find himself back in the Test side again. Moreover, Murali Vijay is also dropped after continuous failures and even he will be fighting hard for his spot ahead of the Australia tour in December.
Rohit is no wonder one of the best players in the limited-overs format but the demands of the Tests are more and he has struggled immensely in the format. He will now be in the action in the upcoming Asia Cup which is set to commence on September 15 and India’s first match will be on the 17th against the qualifying team.
Twitterati was busy blaming Kohli for Rohit’s absence from the Indian team as few even went on to say that the captain doesn’t want him to break his records in the whites which look completely baseless allegations given that cricket is a team game.
