Veteran Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara suffered yet another failure and fans aren’t happy with him. The right-handed batsman’s poor run on form continued as he got out for mere nine runs in the ongoing second Test between England and India at the Lord’s Cricket Stadium. Pujara never looked comfortable in the middle as the red cherry went past his bat on several occasions. He eventually lasted mere 23 balls as James Anderson accounted for his wicket.

For the unversed, Pujara was under the pump heading into this game as his runs tally got dried up lately. Many fans and experts even expected him to warm the benches in the ongoing series. However, the team management persisted with him and the number three position remained with Pujara. The 33-year-old couldn’t do much in the first Test and got out for four in the first innings.

James Anderson accounts for Cheteshwar Pujara’s wicket

He showed some intent in the second innings of the Trent Bridge Test and scored an unbeaten 12. While many expected him to shine at the Mecca of Cricket, Pujara couldn’t even reach the two-figure mark. Notably, it was an outswinging delivery for Anderson which pierced the veteran batsman’s defenses. He poked the delivery outside the off-stump and Jonny Bairstow took a juggling catch at the third slips.

Earlier in the game, England won the toss and Joe Root didn’t have any hesitation to bowl under overcast conditions. However, the decision didn’t prove to be spot on with Indian openers extending their purple patch on this tour. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul put up a batting masterclass as they were no half-measures. While Rahul took the back seat, Rohit did the bulk of scoring by playing delightful shots all over the park.

The duo added 126 runs for the first wicket and India were cruising. Rohit’s departure brought Cheteshwar Pujara in the middle and India’s ‘modern-day wall’ was expected to get some runs under his belt. He tried to assess the conditions and lasted about four overs. However, Pujara’s dried run continued as he got for nine. Netizens weren’t amused with the veteran’s continuous failure as they slammed him left, right and center.

Here’s how Twitterati reacted to Cheteshwar Pujara’s yet another poor show
