Indian skipper Virat Kohli is known to be one of the fittest cricketers around. The 29-year-old maintains a great fitness regime and doesn’t compromise on his diet. His diet is protein-rich which supports his rigorous gym routine. Earlier, he mentioned that he prefers eating food like Lamb Chops and Pink Salmon which are extremely rich in protein.
However, this cricketer has now decided to change things around drastically. He has given up on meat, egg and has also suspended dairy products in his current diet turning him into a vegan. The legendary batsman took this step in a bid to improve his fitness further. It has been almost four months now since the run-machine has turned into a vegan.
Virat Kohli claims that vegan diet to have upped his game
“Two years ago, when he was on a normal diet, he had said that he would go vegan if given a choice. He is now feeling stronger than before,” a source was quoted as saying by the Times of India. “Kohli started this diet four months ago and is feeling stronger as his digestive power has increased. He isn’t missing meat, eggs or dairy,” the source further added.
Kohli has now joined the likes of tennis superstars in Serena and Venus Williams, four-time Formula One champion in Lewis Hamilton and legendary sprinter Carl Lewis who turned into vegans in the past. Kohli also claims that the new diet has upped his game. He has had a great run playing in England earlier this year and looked good in the first Test against the Windies.
Twitterati had mixed reactions upon confronting with this news. While some welcomed the change and praised Kohli, a few others mocked him. Some of the fans also termed this to be the ‘after-marriage effect’ or the ‘Anushka Sharma effect’. Former Aussie cricketer, Jason Gillespie welcomed the change.
Here is how Twitterati reacted:

Imo @imVkohli turning #vegan has done more for the Vegan movement than all of PETAs campaigns put together.
Sometimes people need more than compassion. They need inspiration.
This is why what celebrities endorse or stand up for is so so important.
Good on you captain! So proud— Monica (@desiboho) October 7, 2018

This is so disappointing. @imVkohli Not at all good for the environment. Please save trees and reduce CO2 😋.FYI: A goat can eat up to 2KG greens everyday and you must be adding few more kgs on your plate. You are directly contributing to #GlobalWarming So, eat the goat instead.
