International cricket of some sorts is all set to come back to Pakistan. The cricket world had deserted the Pakistani soil ever since the Sri Lankan team was attacked by the terrorists back in the year 2009. Despite several efforts post the attack, no major cricket team agreed to tour the nation for an international assignment.
A few teams like Zimbabwe and Afghanistan did make sporadic appearances but that never really helped the cause of the game in the country. The ICC, in collaboration with the PCB, recently came up with an idea of a World XI side touring Pakistan for a three-match T20 series.
Things were, however, still under dark covers until Thursday evening when the PCB announced the 14-man squad for the World XI side. Now, with the team announced, it is certain that the crowds in Pakistan are all set to get entertained with some international standard cricket after a long break. The PCB announced a star studded line up for the World XI side.
Reportedly, the players have been offered huge sums of money to be a part of the historic occasion. As many as 5 South African cricketers are participating for World XI team. South African skipper Faf du Plessis will be leading the World XI team. Among the other notable mentions, there is the name of former English skipper Paul Collingwood in the list.
Also, former New Zealand cricketer Grant Elliott will also be part of the action. Needless to say, the excitement for the series is building up with every passing day. The three T20s will be played in the second week of September. As soon as the squad was announced, the Twitterati went berserk in their celebration of the event. From the cricket boards to the members of the World XI side, from Pakistani cricketers to the former cricketers – everyone posted updates congratulating Pakistan and the players.
Here is how they reacted to the World XI Squad announcement:

Pretty good World XI side assembled to go to Lahore. To be honest, I didn't expect so many to sign up. Hope it goes well.
