The Delhi Daredevils registered a narrow win over the Gujarat Lions in their previous match. And the expressions of their mentor Rahul Dravid after the win summed up the story for them. The big smile on Dravid’s face explained how much the win meant to him and the young Delhi team. Delhi Daredevils are down and out in the tournament. There is no way they can make it to the playoffs this season.

The story of the IPL over the years for the double Ds has been no different either. They have failed to make it to the playoffs in the recent times. Rahul Dravid has been associated with the franchise in the capacity of the team mentor for the last two seasons. He has surely helped the side to unearth the young talent. Even this year, the team camp has seen the youngsters stepping up to the occasion.

It will not be unfair to say that Dravid has been a key force in shaping up the careers of young Indian cricketers in the tournament. The Delhi batting lineup does not boast too much about the big overseas names but has still managed to breach massive totals like 208 and 195 this season. All credit to their young batsmen.

In the recent match between the Daredevils and the Gujarat Lions, the DD lineup had the total of 195 to overhaul. The result of the match would have made no difference to their standing in the points table. But they certainly had pride to play for. In addition to that, they had to perform for their fans who have been very patient in supporting them.

A fine knock of 96 from Shreyas Iyer in the middle order helped Daredevils register a narrow 2 wicket win in the match. They had a brief scare towards the end when Iyer was dismissed in the final over with some still needed to be fetched. But, as soon as Amit Mishra hit two fours to seal the game for Daredevils, Rahul Dravid erupted in joy and gave high fives to the other men in the dugout.
