Pakistani all-rounder Imad Wasim has surged to the top spot in the T20I bowling rankings. The latest release of the ICC rankings sees the left arm spinner take a handy lead in the list of top bowlers in the shortest format of the game. Imad has 780 rating points to his name, whilst the second ranked Jasprit Bumrah of India has 764 rating points. The fans have certainly gone awe after seeing the new found style icon of Pakistan cricket excel on the field.
Imad Wasim is the only Pakistani bowler in the top 10 in the T20I bowling rankings. After Imad and Bumrah, South African leggie Imran Tahir comes in at number 3 and he is closely followed by Afghanistan leggie Rashid Khan. West Indies leg spinner Samuel Badree is ranked number 5 in the latest rankings.
Imad Wasim was a part of the Champions Trophy winning team recently. Albeit he is a renowned all-rounder, his exploits in the bowling department have earned him a lot of praises. Talking about the performances of Imad in the shortest format, he has only played 19 T20Is till date. He is a regular member of the national setup in the shorter formats.
He made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe in the year 2015 at Lahore. Since then, he has represented the team in 19 T20Is to return with 23 wickets. He bowlers with an economy of 5.83, which is as miser as a bowler can get. He has a very impressive bowling average of just 16.73.
When it comes to strike rate, he had a handy strike rate with the ball – 17.2. His most recent appearances for the Pakistani team in the T20 format of the game was during the 4 match T20I series against the West Indies in the Caribbean Islands earlier this year.
