The ongoing Test match between India and Sri Lanka is not ceasing to make the headlines one bit. Before the commencement of the series, it was expected to be a dull contest between the two sides. However, the way the visitors have responded needs some applause. But, the most recent episode involving Dilruwan Perera is something that the fans are not liking for sure.
The Sri Lankan all-rounder was seen seeking help from the dressing room for a DRS call after he was initially given out by the on field umpire. The action perspired in the 57th over of the match when Mohammad Shami was bowling to Dilruwan Perera. A quick delivery from Shami nipped back sharply to hit the pads of Perera. The Indians were loud and firm in their appeal as they were sure they had their man.
Umpire Nigel Llong also thought that the ball would have crashed the stumps and gave it out without taking much time for his verdict. Dilruwan Perera was seen looking at the non-striker batsman Rangana Herath to ask if he should take the DRS. He decided not to take it and turned back towards the pavilion. Soon, some hand movements could be seen coming in from the Sri Lankan dressing room.
Perera turned back and reviewed the decision. Anyone who would see the video will believe that Perera indeed took a help from the dressing room. The moment he saw the review signals coming from the dressing room, he turned back to review the decision. The umpire had to go up stairs. The reviews suggested that the impact was outside the off stump and Perera survived another day.
While he had a lucky escape on the field, he certainly did not have one off the field. The fans did not like the way he sought help from the dressing room.
Here is how the Twitterati reacted to the entire episode:

If an Indian player had done what Dilruwan Perera just did, all hell would have broken loose already.

Dilruwan Perera got instructions from SL dressing room to go for DRS.
Sri Lankan cricket is always lacks in sportsmanship. They will go further down in the game of Cricket.#Shame

In other news, BDRS or 'Brainfade DRS' makes another appearance. Perera walked… and then turned to signal. How does a batsman who walked allowed to come back and ask for review? ICC needs to start monitoring this. #IndvSL

Dilruwan Perera is the new Steve Smith. #DRS #BrainFade #INDvSL

Was that a 'brainfade' moment for Dilruwan???? #INDvSL

Very sad, Sri Lanka, this Dilruwan “brain fade.” Caught on camera looking at the dressing room, hands there gesturing to him to review. Ghost of Steve Smith lives on #IndvSL

Might have just been an instinctive reaction but clearly against the rules..the batsmen should have realised it and walked. You got it all wrong dilruwan.#INDvSL @OfficialSLC

No! No! The dressing room may have helped Perera review that.

Have we witnessed another Brain Fade here.
Only Dilruwan Perera can tell now.#INDvSL #IndvsSL

WTF did Perera do! Steven Smith being the ideal role model ?

How easily @Sdoull spotted that Perera was walking towards the direction of dressing room & then turned back to ask for the DRS. Awesome awareness from @Sdoull need him as commentator for all India matches #INDvSL

Dilruwan Perera unusual Decision Review System (DRS) suggests that 'Brain Fade' happens not just to White but to Brown people too. It is turning out to be a Universal Phenomenon. #INDvSL

It's clear that dilruwan Perera got some msg like why don't u review the decision, it's not right in d spirit of the time. True it's notout but how it happened is not good to cricket. All eyes on referee BOON now.#INDvSL

If the idea is to get right decisions, I don’t see why the dressing room shouldn’t get involved in DRS reviews. Time to rethink the rules?
