Twitterati react to Wasim Jaffer’s funny dig at Sanjay Manjrekar after Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja’s brilliance against Australia
Hardik went on to become the Player of the Series after he scored a match-winning 92 in the third and final ODI.
Back during the 2019 World Cup, Sanjay Manjrekar stated that he’s not fond of ‘bits and pieces’ cricketers like Ravindra Jadeja. The comments gave rise to a lot of uproars and the veteran was a recipient of a lot of backlashes. Back then, even Jadeja had asked him to stop his ‘verbal diarrhoea’. Manjrekar has again opened up during India’s ongoing tour of Australia.
Manjrekar, also a former Indian cricketer, said that he doesn’t prefer cricketers of Jadeja’s attributes. Moreover, he stated that along with Jadeja, he won’t be picking even Hardik Pandya in his playing eleven due to ‘illusionary value’.
Sanjay Manjrekar speaks out
“My selection and thoughts are based on a principle that I have learnt over the years: if you have specialists who can walk-in based on one discipline, you fill your team with those players,” Manjrekar was quoted as saying in The Hindu.
“I do not have a problem with Jadeja; I have a problem with his kind of cricketers in white-ball cricket. Even Hardik Pandya will not be in my team. They add illusionary value to the team. Of course, I have always rated Jadeja highly in the Test format,” he added.
Hardik went on to become the Player of the Series after he scored a match-winning 92 in the third and final ODI at the Manuka Oval in Canberra. Even Jadeja scored 66 runs and the duo was involved in an unbeaten 150-run stand that took the Men in Blue over the 300-run mark.
In the meantime, former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer put out a hilarious message, funnily appreciating Manjrekar for the success of the Indian cricketers. Of late, Jaffer has dropped quite a few rib-tickling posts, showcasing his humorous side and it wasn’t any different this time.
Jaffer took to Twitter and wrote, “While we appreciate those who contributed on the field let’s not forget the contribution of those working off the field too like my good friend. @sanjaymanjrekar #AusvInd.”
