The West Indies team silenced their critics in the most appropriate way possible as they put up some brilliant display of batting to win the 2nd Test match against England. The team was massively criticized by the cricketing fraternity for their horrific loss in the first Test. The first test match saw the Windies suffer an innings defeat. Jason Holder and his men lost 19 wickets in a day in the process which clearly highlighted the poor state of West Indian cricket.
However, the second Test was a different story altogether. The West Indian batsmen looked a like a completely different bunch especially Kraig Brathwaite and Shai Hope. Wicketkeeper Shai hope came up with back to back centuries in both the innings and the English bowlers had no answer to the right handed batsman. Shai Hope’s twin centuries were brilliantly supported by Brathwaite who scored a century in the first but missed it by a whisker in the second.
The main story:
These two batsmen pulled off a successful run chase of 322 runs on the final day at Headingley, Leeds to equal the series. Legends from the game hailed the miraculous performance by the inexperienced West Indian side on Twitter. South Africa speedster Dale Steyn congratulated skipper Jason Holder for the turnaround in the Test series. Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag hailed the couple of centuries from Shai Hope and termed it as a proud moment for the country.
Former Kiwi international Scott Styris took out time to troll the people who criticized the West Indians after the first Test. Mohammad Kaif showered praise on the West Indian team and marked out Shai Hope for his incredible character. Legendary Aussie Shane Warner also joined the list and gave the team a pat on their back for the remarkable performance. Here are all the tweets from the cricketing fraternity:
Well done Jason! #caribbeanflair

Huge congrats Windies . 300 plus Tests I've seen and I don't recall a turn round like that. What a great Test match.

Matches like this don't prove that Test cricket isn't dying—but they do prove why it's worth trying to save. #ENGvWI
