Twitterati sympathize with Fakhar Zaman after a whirlwind knock against Gladiators

The Lahore Qalandars have had a very disappointing season of Pakistan Super League. After poor shows in the previous two editions, they had a lot of hopes from the 2018 edition of the league. But their fortunes remained the same. While the collective efforts did not yield results, individual performances certainly lit up the occasions for the Qalandars. Fakhar Zaman has been one such success story for the Qalandars.

In the most recent game against the Quetta Gladiators, Fakhar Zaman looked set to score a magnificent ton. The hard-hitting southpaw was unfortunate to have missed out on reaching the landmark by just 6 runs. Just when the social media had started buzzing around with a potential ton in the PSL 2018, Zaman ran out of luck and headed back to the pavilion.

Coming to the game, the match was a dead rubber for the Lahore Qalandars. They do not have any chance of making it to the playoffs of the season. On the other hand, a win for the Quetta Gladiators will strengthen their claims among the top sides ahead of the playoffs. The Gladiators won the toss and opted to bowl first. Fakhar Zaman opened the innings with Anton Devcich for the Qalandars.

Devcich perished cheaply on 18 and the wickets of Agha Salman and Brendon McCullum fell in quick succession too. It was right then that Fakhar started his onslaught on the Gladiators. Unfazed by the wickets tumbling at the other end, Zaman came up with an excellent display off power hitting.

Zaman reached his fifty in the 12th over of the game. He then stepped on the accelerator to add more runs under his belt. He stormed his way in to the nineties. It was in the 16th over of the game when he ended up holing out to Hasan Khan off the bowling of Anwar Ali. Fakhar scored a belligerent 94 off just 50 deliveries with 9 fours and 6 towering maximums.
