There’s no denying the fact that ultimately it is the game of cricket which is above all and at times when many try to take it for granted, they subtly pay the price for their deeds. No better instance can justify this logic as the recently concluded Ball-tampering saga when Steve Smith in his apology to all his fans, the Australian public, teammates and the media broke out several times in his attempt to for ask forgiveness.
It was quite an emotional moment when you see such a champion of a game treated in a way like this. It was after he landed in Sydney that Smith held a press conference as he pleaded sorry in front of everyone for his actions that have landed him in such a trouble.
A feeling of regret
His apology in regards to his disgraceful act of the cheat, he says is not acceptable. The Australian in him is aware of the fact that many budding kids who look up to him with the desire of representing the country in the same baggy green, knows how much has he hurt their sentiments. He is devastated and reckons it to be an error in judgment to allow anything of this sort to happen on the cricket field. The skipper is gutted and doesn’t want to blame any fellow member for what transpired in the game that he loves so much.
“I don’t blame anyone. I am the captain of the Australian team, I take responsibility for what happened on last Saturday.”
There is hope to improve and learn from such mistakes and assures that he won’t fall back on such pity things. The cricketer bursts into tears on several occasions as he aims to earn back the respect. “If any good can come of this, if there can be a lesson to others then I hope I can be a force for change. I know I’ll regret this for the rest of my life. I’m absolutely gutted. I hope in time I can earn back respect and forgiveness.”

The Twitterati accepts the apology as it is much disheartening to see a modern-day great break down like that. Here are some of the tweets that give him hopes for better times ahead as a Champion like him will fight his way back to contention.
Tough to watch Cameron & Steve go through the 2 statements they just made. They will learn from this & be better in the future I’m sure!

10/10 press conference from Steve Smith.
I hope all those haters, and former English cricketers ease up their vitriol.

It's very sad to see the greatest Test batsman of the modern era break down on camera.
Nobody should be celebrating this in any way. It's a huge loss for the game. https://t.co/WWcgglyFKs— Rahul Desai (@ReelReptile) March 29, 2018
Feel for Smith. So many captains have done over the years what they did but nobody has been treated like a criminal.
I am feeling bad for an Aussie Cricketer. Damn!— Gappistan Radio (@GappistanRadio) March 29, 2018
Steven Smith is in tears.
Yes, he was captain and yes he is responsible if the team tampers with the ball and yes he should be the fall guy.
But this is heart-breaking.
And the punishment DOES NOT fit the damned crime.

The pretense here, among some Australian fans and definitely among the Australian board is that these three players are the fallen ones who have let an otherwise above board ethos down. This is utter sanctimonious nonsense.

You cannot take away the fact that Steve smith is one of the greatest batsman in world cricket. I am sure he will emerge stronger after the punishment he has got.

Punishments is one thing. This is humiliation and harassment. Fucking hell man! WTF is wrong with these people.
