The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) were relatively quiet in the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction compared to the other teams. Compared to the other teams, who were on their toes, the Orange Army went about watching the proceedings. In the entire auction, the team, captained by David Warner, only bought three players- Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Jagadeesha Suchith, and Kedar Jadhav.
Even as the netizens were happy with Mujeeb’s inclusion, the fans raised their eyebrows after the Sunrisers roped in Jadhav. Jadhav had a horrendous campaign in the 2020 IPL after which the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) released him of his services. The Maharashtra-born veteran strained to up the scoring rate at stages when the required rate escalated at an alarming rate.
He registered himself at a base price of INR 2 crore after which SRH picked him up at his base price itself. In the meantime, Twitterati aren’t happy with the Sunrisers by any stretch of the imagination. The users on social media lashed out at the IPL franchise for picking him.
Here’s how Twitterati reacted:
Kedar Jadhav sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad at 2cr…

I am happy that Kedar Jadhav is with us: VVS Laxman
VVS Laxman, the former Indian cricketer, and current SRH mentor, was of the opinion that Jadhav’s inclusion will only strengthen their middle order. Laxman was also happy after getting Afghanistan’s Mujeeb in their ranks.
“We know that the IPL is meant to be in Mumbai, if we know there is wear and tear in the wicket, it gives us more flexibility. As far as Kedar Jadhav is concerned, just his experience will strengthen our middle order.
“We have exciting middle-order batters, in the last few years, we missed the experience in this department. Kedar is also a useful bowler, he is an international experience. I am happy that he is with us,” Laxman told during a virtual press conference.
“Mujeeb is an experienced IPL bowler and there is a mystery to his bowling style. The other option for us was an overseas fast bowler, we felt with our fast bowling options available and the Indian talent available, we thought it would be better for us if we have a mystery spinner in our squad as it strengths our spin bowling department,” he added.
