The Indian team for the limited overs leg against Sri Lanka was announced on Monday. Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina have been ignored yet again by the selectors as India will be playing without their skipper. Rohit Sharma will be leading the side for the first time at the International level and would look to do well in the series. However, the fans were not at all impressed with the omission of Yuvraj and Raina and expressed their anger on social media.

The all-rounder Hardik Pandya returned to the fold after being rested for the ongoing Test series against Sri Lanka. Also, Siddharth Kaul earned his maiden call-up to the national side and was rewarded for his impressive performances in domestic cricket and Indian Premier League (IPL). But the selectors continue to ignore Raina and Yuvraj and given the fact that India will be touring for most of 2018, they might be out of the contention for 2019.

End of the road for the duo?

Yuvraj Singh was the part of the Indian ODI squad recently when India travelled England to defend their Champions Trophy and West Indies for One-Day International series. But since then has been out of the reckoning and has also failed to clear the yo-yo fitness test. Surprisingly, he also opted out of the ongoing Ranji Trophy games and trained at the National Cricket Academy. It was being speculated that he might be given an opportunity against Sri Lanka but he was not considered again.

Suresh Raina, on the other hand, last donned India jersey in January earlier this year in a T20 International against England. He has been striving hard since then to make his come back to the national side. He was also seen training hard to meet the fitness requirements of Team India. However, he has also been ignored after failing to impress in the domestic arena. Twitterati slammed the selection panel after dropping the duo for the series against Sri Lanka.
