The Sunrisers Hyderabad have received a major blow ahead of their 2018 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Their regular skipper David Warner has been ruled out of the tournament following his ban imposed by the Cricket Australia recently. Recently, they signed up English cricketer Alex Hales as the replacement for Warner for the season. This is the first time that the Englishman will be a part of the IPL roster.

His appointment comes as a good relief for the SRH camp who wished to have a hard hitting batsman at the top of the order. Over the recent editions, the boots were ideally filled by David Warner. Certainly, Warner’s absence will be a big void for any player to fill. But one would expect that Alex Hales will take this as a big opportunity to show his mettle in the tournament.

Earlier at the auctions, Hales was not picked up by any franchise and had gone unsold. Some fans are not happy with this signing though. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Alex Hales. However, the fans do believe that the SRH camp could have roped in a much better and an in-form player as the replacement for David Warner. The fans took to micro blogging site Twitter to express their reactions.

The player who the bans batted for in their tweets was Luke Ronchi. The former New Zealand cricketer has been in a tremendous form in the recent times. He was the leading run getter in the recently concluded edition of the Pakistan Super League. His form in the season was sensational. He was instrumental in helping Islamabad United win their second PSL title.

Apparently, the Sunrisers Hyderabad team missed the trick by not approaching Ronchi in the season. Earlier, Ronchi had played for the Mumbai Indians in the initial years of the IPL. The SRH camp had reportedly approached Sri Lankan cricketer Kusal Perera as well before finalizing Alex Hales as Warner’s replacement.

Here is how the fans expressed their support for Luke Ronchi:
