Team India has had a dominating time in Sri Lanka this season. They have been thoroughly brutal in their approach and have taken a heavy toll in the islanders. The Indian team whitewashed the Sri Lankan side in the Test series and are well on course to do the same in the ODI series as well. In every game that they have played on the tour, they have found a new hero coming up who has taken the responsibility of performing.

Also, the woes of the Sri Lankan side seem to have a never ending spirit. Neither have their batsmen stood to up the occasion, nor have the bowlers risen to the fore. This has only made things simpler for team India as their victories on the tour have been cake walks. The players have created many records on the tour. In the final ODI of the series, there was yet another record that beckoned for the Indian team.

For the first time in the history of ODI cricket, team India fielded two specialist wrist spinners in their playing eleven. The men in blue went ahead with young chinaman spinner Kuldeep Yadav and leggie Yuzvendra Chahal in the final ODI. Both rookie players are young to international cricket and are looking to set their feet right at the biggest arena. It comes as no surprise to see the two players giving their all whilst on the field on the day.

Young guns in the making

Yuzvendra Chahal has been making sporadic appearances for the national side since last year. He was included in the India’s tour to Zimbabwe and was a part of the limited overs side that hosted England earlier this year. He had bagged a six-for in one of the T20I fixtures against the English side to shoot high in the limelight.

Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav made an impressive start to his international career earlier this year in the Test series against Australia. Since then, he has played a few odd games when the mainstream spinners of the side have been rested. Talking about the record, Indian team fielded two specialist wrist spinners after having played 922 ODIs in the history of the game.
