Day 3 of the Under-19 Asia Cup 2021 saw some fascinating battles between the bat and the ball. The first clash of the contest saw arch-rivals India and Pakistan locking horns with the Boys in Green emerging victorious.
Next up, the Afghanistan U19 side defeated Arab Emirates U19 convincingly by 140 runs. The third match was also a one-sided contest, with the Bangladesh U19 absolutely decimating the Kuwait U19 side by 222 runs. These results also had a massive impact on the points table.
India U19 suffer a two-wicket defeat against Pakistan U19
It was a thrilling clash that went right down to the wire. Batting first at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai, the Indian side got bundled out for a paltry 237 with Pakistan bowlers making the ball talk. While wicketkeeper-batter Aaradhya Yadav top-scored with 50, Harnoor Singh and Rajvardhan Hangargekar chipped in with significant contributions.
Zeeshan Zameer took a five-for for Pakistan. The Men in Green’s chase wasn’t smooth by any means as they lost wickets at regular intervals. They eventually crossed the line in the final delivery, winning the contest by two wickets.
Afghanistan U19 beat United Arab Emirates U19 by 140 runs
While the Indo-Pak clash went right down to the wire, the battle between Afghanistan U19 and United Arab Emirates U19 was one-sided. While Allah Noor scored a century, other Afghanistan batters couldn’t come to the party as the Afghan side got bundled out for 194. However, UAE never really looked in the hunt as they got bundled out for 54, losing the contest by 140 runs.
Bangladesh U19 decimate Kuwait U19 by 222 runs
In the final game of the day, the Bangla Tigers made absolute mockery of the Kuwait U19 side. Batting first, the Sri Lankan U19 side posted 291, thanks to Mahfijul Islam top-scoring with 112. Kuwait never looked in the chase and got bundled out for 69, losing the contest by 222 runs.
