U19 Asia Cup 2021: Day 5 Round Up

After victories in today’s matches, India and Pakistan have booked their seats for the semi-finals of the Multination tournament.

Day 5 of the Under-19 Asia Cup 2021 was quite an eventful one that witnessed some enthralling contests. Afghanistan Under-19 and India Under-19 locked horns with each other for Match 9 of the mega event. Whereas on the other hand, Pakistan U19 and UAE U19 battled it out against each other in Match 10.

India defeated Afghanistan quite comfortably to win the match by four wickets. Whereas Pakistan emerged triumphantly against UAE  to secure victory by 21 runs. After victories in today’s matches, India and Pakistan have booked their seats for the semi-finals of the multination tournament.

Afghanistan Under-19s face a four wickets loss against India U19

After having won the toss, India decided to field first at the ICC Academy Ground No 2, Dubai. Afghanistan’s skipper Suliman Safi (73) and Ijaz Ahmad Ahmadzai (86) starred with the bat to help the team reach a competitive total of 259 at the end of the 50 overs.

Chasing down the target, India’s openers provided the team with a flying start. They stitched in a partnership of 104 runs wherein Harnoor Singh (65) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (35) stayed firm on the pitch. Further Raj Bawa added valuable 43 runs to the team’s account.  Noor Ahmad created problems for India’s batting unit wherein he scalped four wickets. However, the team couldn’t restrict the opposition as India won by four wickets with 10 balls to spare.

Pakistan Under 19 continue their good form in the mega event

The Men in Green has had an impressive run in the mega event so far. They registered their third straight win in the tournament to exude their dominance. The team elected to bat first and managed to put 219 runs on the board. UAE’s bowlers put up a clinical display at the fore wherein Mohammad Zeeshan, Mehran Mumtaz, and Maaz Sadaqat picked up two wickets each. Qasim Akram on the other hand scalped three wickets.

Pakistan’s bowlers then dominated the proceedings as they did not let the UAE’s batters settle on the pitch. In the end, they were able to score just 198 runs as Pakistan won the game by 21 runs.
