In the video, all the Afghan players were seen dancing with a lot of enthusiasm during the practice session as they all looked pumped up ahead of the all-important knockout clash. It is not known which form of dance it is but the youngsters were seen dancing in a circle which is reminiscent of the Garba during the Navratri festival.
Coming back to the on-field action, the Farhan Zakil-led side will be facing Asian rivals Sri Lanka captained by Kamindu Mendis at Coolidge Cricket Ground at Antigua and Barbuda. Afghanistan finished second in Group C with two wins and a loss from three matches and four points to their tally.
Their only defeat had come against the table-toppers Pakistan on January 20 where they had gone down by 24 runs. The Lankans, on the other hand topped, Group D having won all their games with six points. They got the better of Australia, the hosts West Indies and Scotland respectively, and taking the current form into account, Sri Lanka seem to be the favorites in the last eight clash.
Afghanistan had made the semi-finals in 2018 and managed a quarterfinal finish in 2020 whereas, the 2000 finalists have not made a last-four appearance since the 2016 edition in Bangladesh.
