UAE fast bowler aiming for David Warner’s wicket in Global Canada T20
Naveed will play for the Toronto Nationals.
The inaugural edition of the Global Canada T20 will get underway from June 28 at the Maple Leaf North-West Ground in King City. The opening match will be played between the Toronto Nationals and Vancouver Knights. The likes of David Warner and Steve Smith, who were earlier handed suspensions by Cricket Australia (CA), will also grace their presence in the tournament.
Apart from the colossal figures, some less-renowned, but skilled players will also take part, Mohammad Naveed, the fast-bowler from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is one of them. He will play for the Toronto Nationals along with Smith and Rohan Mustafa, his UAE skipper. The pacer is all set for the event and is confident about his performance with the leather.
“He’s a very aggressive player”- Naveed on Warner
“The target that I want to achieve is to win the best bowler award in the tournament. Today that is what I want. Of course it will be very difficult but I have great confidence that I can do well in Canada over a series of matches,” Naveed was quoted as saying by Cricket 360.
Naveed has picked some massive wickets in the last six months that includes the likes of Chris Gayle and Shahid Afridi. The paceman is now aiming to dismiss David Warner in this event. He will get the opportunity when the Nationals will lock horns with the Winnipeg Hawks, the team Warner has been picked for, on July 2.
“I have got the wicket of Shahid Afridi and Chris Gayle before so my target now is to get David Warner. He is a fantastic players and he is one of the best batsmen in the world. He’s a very aggressive player and those type of batsmen I enjoy taking wickets,” the 31-year old speedster talked about his goal while heaping praises on the Aussie batsman.
