Pakistan have been successful in bringing international cricket back to the nation and they looked pretty prepared to cherish their fans and they went onto win the ODI series against Sri Lanka, and now they were up for a three-match T20I series which is scheduled to be played in Lahore. The hosts had certainly added Umar Akmal in theT20I squad along with Ahmad Shehzad for the series.
Akmal played his last T20I against Zimbabwe in 2016 in Abu Dhabi. He was ruled out of the team due to his struggle to score runs. This was the comeback match for the veteran cricketer after a span of two years, and he was successful in making a record but it was something that a batsman will never want to see along with his name.
Umar Akmal makes an embarrassing record
In the first T20I, of the series when Akmal came to bat, Pakistan was struggling as they were 13 for 2 at that position and was expected a responsible knock from the 29-year-old cricketer but he got leg before wicket on the very first delivery of his match bowled by Nuwan Pradeep and got out for a golden duck.
After that, he broke the record of former all-rounder Shahid Afridi for getting dismissed on duck at most number of occasions in T20Is for Pakistan. Earlier, the record was held by Afridi who got out on a duck for 8 times in his T20I career and Akmal has now got as many as 9 ducks under his name. Akmal is now only behind Tillakaratne Dilshan who got out for a duck on ten occasions in T20Is.
Ahmed Shehzad was another player who was making his way back into the team after a long year but he also got out after scoring 4 runs in 9 deliveries and disappointed his team with his performance
The hosts never looked settled in the match as their bowlers looked a bit pale, The top-order of the islanders performed well, as Danushka Gunathilaka remained their top scorer who successfully scored a half-century which helped his team in posting 165 runs in 20 overs and in return the whole team of the hosts got bowled out for 101 runs in 17.4 overs which led them to suffer a humiliating defeat of 64 runs in the first T20I.
From Sri Lanka, the duo of Nuwan Pradeep and Isuru Udana looked in their top-notch form who took three wickets each and played a major role in the 1st victory of the tour for their side.
