Pakistan’s Umar Akmal has been the butt of all jokes on the internet. The right-hand batsman had posted a picture of himself, standing next to a Bentley car with a caption, “Enjoying London after hard work”. The trolls left no stones unturned to make the most of this opportunity and came hard at him. The caption left everyone guessing what was the ‘hard work’ Akmal was talking about.

He is currently in London where he is working on his fitness to make a comeback into the Pakistan national team. Recently, he was also removed from Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) list of players contracts. The 27-year-old last played an ODI in January 2017 against Australia and his last T20 was in February this year. But his last outing in whites was way back in 2011 against Zimbabwe.

In fact, after he posted the image on Twitter, Akmal had asked the users to not comment negatively on it.  “I Love all my fans. A humble request to all fans please refrain from negative comments. Your prayers and support is always appreciated,” he wrote.

However, not all fans took the post in the right manner and mocked him ruthlessly. Some asked him to not show his face in the Pakistan team again, while others thought the picture with a Bentley was to prove he too had something to brag about, if not a national contract. Overall in his career, the cricketer has played 116 ODIs and 16 Test matches and has also played 83 T20. Fitness has been one of the primary reasons that he missed out on a national comeback.

Akmal was originally named in the Champions Trophy squad but he failed two fitness tests and thus was axed.
